Following the success of House Bill 47, the Tongue River Joint Powers Board (JPB) is now actively pursuing opportunities to fund and construct the proposed natural gas pipeline.
At the JPB’s March 27 monthly meeting, Peter Clark, chairman of the JPB, told attendees that he was recently contacted by Laurie Warner of the USDA rural development office in Sheridan. He said Warner expressed an interest in the project and offered the possibility that her office could provide a loan through their energy efficiency program.
Clark also said that he has been informed that SourceGas has scheduled an invitation-only meeting, on May 14 in Cheyenne, with government officials, state agencies, and other producers to address the “underserved” communities in Wyoming. He will contact the meeting organizer to express his interest, as the JPB’s representative, to be included.
The JPB has also consulted with the Wyoming Pipeline Authority (WPA) regarding funding and construction options. A public workshop will be held in April to discuss these options. The date of the workshop and an agenda will be provided as soon as the schedule is finalized.
Additional information about the JPB and the proposed natural gas line is available by contacting Peter Clark at (307) 655-2538 or [email protected].
